  I can definitely see his point, Arteta is one who could play for England but won't as he agrees it is a stupid rule. I just think it should be someone else making these comments not a relative international rookie like Jack

  i think it is good to see a footballer have an opinion and not sit on the fence, give cliches or scripted answers. like you said arteta is a prime example, wouldn't seem right him turning out for england.

  There's been a few name trotted out as examples, and it's all different circumstances...
  
  Kevin Pietersen - his mum's English. Fine, play for England.
  Mo Farah - came here as a kid. Fine, represent Britain.
  Januzaj - came here at 16? Bit of a grey area for me. Still young but not really English even come 2018 when he's eligable. Would he even want to wait that long to play some international football? Belgium look a better bet for a trophy anyway.
  
  Arteta turning out for England would be ridiculous though. Wasn't there a similar thing with Carlo Cudicini a few years back?

  Januzaj shouldn't be allowed to, his family didn't move here. he was bought by man utd so i think it is a bit different. plus he is crazy if he wants to wait 5 years to play.

  i was thinking that some of the rich arab nations could use the rule in their favour too. they could get players who can't make their own nation team to play in their league and switch, i'm sure they'd be well paid for it. the world cup is gonna be played in qatar and they'll want to do well.

  The way they react to the Old Trafford defeat will define them, I am still of the opinion that they have a soft centre and won't last the course of the season but hope they surprise me

  Could well happen Scotty, stranger things have happened this season already. Though I think Southampton might set up nicely for Arsenal as they get the ball down and play a nice style, Lambert might upset them but I think Arsenal's defence is more susceptible to players running in behind them now
