  Well what about that, now it's a question of how long he can hold on to World Number One status.
  
  Did he mention that he's Scottish? Och aye, people can tend to forget that bit.
  
  A tremenduous achievement, and a claim on the Sports Personality of the Year, though there are a few contenders with it being Olympics year.

  congrats to mr murray i must admit i never thought id see the day where he would reach the top spot. I'm not however the biggest fan of murray though due to his high level of blandness in interview, just seems he has no personality. Lets see how long he can stay there eh

  Well deserved,CONGRATULATIONS to him,fuck knows how he can keep hitting them balls so consistently match after match,i get tired just watching him return almost impossible shots made by his opponents,he is the very best ever in my opinion in returning.When was the last time a Scot was number 1 in anything,?,you,ll have to go back to Jackie Stewart wont you?

  Such a British phenomenon isn't it, the 'Sports Personality' (of the year), historically awarded to thoroughly nice blokes who don't quite cut it on the world stage, but take defeat gracefully and aren't afraid to make a prat out of themselves on Children in Need.

  I happen to care about interviews because as well as appreciating ones ability on the court I also like to see their personality. Maybe i'm on my own on this but hey that's just me. After winning a grand slam or big competition I like to hear what the athletes have to say. but not murray i'll just change the channel

  Two matches played in the ATP Tour Finals, and 2 won. Plays Wawrinka tomorrow, and almost sure to get to the semi-finals, where Djokovic has already qualified.
  The number one ranking is still in the balance, with Murray about to lose over 200 ranking points, making them almost level again. Could come down to a Murray v Djokovic final for world No.1, that would be the ideal scenario for the tournament, maybe not ideal in Murray's mind though.

  What a finish to the year. Straight sets win against Djokovic for the title and the number one spot safely defended.
  6-3 6-4. Wasn't expecting it to go that easily, he never did his trademark trick of looking like he was going to throw it away.
  
  Add to that, his brother is also world number one in the doubles, hard to believe how this has happened.

  I wish people would stop giving Andy Murray such a tough time of things. Becoming the number 1 ranked player in the world is a bloody incredible achievement and he should be congratulated for that.
  
  Sure, he might be a boring interview and a bit of a prick in person but he is one of the greatest sportsmen that the UK has (and especially Scotland) and should be respected as such.
