Acting isn't as easy as we think. Rarely is it the case that an actor rocks up to set, does their 9-5 and fucks off home. Major roles require some serious commitment and call for way more than mental preparations. To truly get into character, aesthetics have to be taken into account in order for an actor to resemble the person they are trying to portray. Sometime they are asked to lose (or gain) a ridiculous amount of weight in a short amount of time. It's not always pretty!

Anna Hathaway had to lose a whopping 25lbs for her role in Les Miserables and said;

"I was on a starvation diet to look like I was near death in a film... but I went at it with a plan and I had a guide, a nutritionist kind of helped me with it. I just had to stop eating for a total of 13 days shooting."

There have been so many examples of actors / actresses having to go to extremes in preperation for their specific upcoming roles. I would say basically not eating for 2 weeks is really extreme although, sayiong that, if im getting paid millions for a role id be not neccesarily happy, but content atleast to push the envelope in terms of prep (although id much rather it was a role that required me to be super buff as opposed to becoming a rake..after all, which is gonna benefit ya more after the film shooting ends lol).

Yeah I'd totally rather be paid to get toned and look great rather than pile on the pounds and be some lard ass. Renee Zellwegger is tiny normally. She really packed on the weight for Bridget Jones.

It's the potato at the end i feel most sorry for (dont think theres anyway mr or mrs potato are gonna comback from that level of weight loss). Strannge you should mention Bridget Jones / Renee Zellwegger, ReedeFox. Caught the third instalment the other day. I know the transformation was not necesarily for the role itself but with how Renee looked, really didnt look at all like her from before (dont knowf she has had work done..guessing she has..but am thinking shes looking really old). Looking again at the pics, i do feel sorry for Chris Hemsworth as far as his 'In the heart of the sea' role went. Going from eing really buff to that may show commitment but bet he hated thhimself and the powers that be on the film for having to look like that.
