You would never have thunk it: landing on a comet
A mission which has been dubbed the "Rosetta" mission is attempting today to land on a comet at about 9:03 GMT. The lander will have a seven hour descent to the surface of this comet.

If it manages to land successfully this will be the first time a a robot has landed on the surface of a comet.

Once it has landed and reached the comet, then it will deploy harpoons to secure its position and then send a picture of its surroundings which apparently contain deep pits and tall ice spires. I like to put my tall ice spire into Scotty Mum's deep pit that's for sure.

It will allow scientists to see what clues there were about the original materials that made the Solar System more than 4.5 billion years ago.

It shall be interesting what happens.
