George Harrison died in LA in 2001, and in 2004 a pine tree was planted as a tribute to him in the city's Griffith Park with a plaque that read: "In memory of a great humanitarian who touched the world as an artist, a musician and a gardener."
A nice touch, but unfortunately the tree is now dead thanks to an infestation of, wait for it... Beetles!
Unbelievable.
Local politician-type Tom LaBonge has promised that a replacement tree will be planted.
