Back in the 1940s, this was what was used as GPS

It will now be used as a backup plan to our modern GPS failing at all. It's mostly going to be used on ships in case of any major GPS failure.

Considering there were no satelites created, let alone in orbit, in the 1940's i'm going to go ahead and say Phil is telling porkies.
