WHY HOLDING IN A TURD IS BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH

WHY HOLDING IN A TURD IS BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH
For a select few (mainly women), holding in a shit is the only option, especially if they're on a date or at a restaurant with only one toilet and a queue is forming. We've all done it at least one time in our lives, but did you know that it can do more harm than good? Well, it's true...

Niket Sonpal, M.D. assistant clinical professor at Tuoro College of Osteopathic Medicine in New York, has just released a paper warning people of the dangers of delayed defecation. Mmmm nice! Apparently, the process of harvesting your turd begins the moment a ‘stool hits part of the rectum.’
At that point, most people will get the feeling that it's time to get to the loo asap. Failure to do so over the next few hours will give the abdomen added pressure but it doesn't get really damaging until you hit the six hour mark. Blimey, that's a long time to hold in a log!

It’s around the six hour mark that your body begins to impact your poo. At this point, you'll find the urgent need to shit suddenly goes away. It's not because your turd has conveniently decided to 'go back in'. It's because you've actually made yourself constipated. Niket warns:

Quote:I’ve never heard of anyone dying from holding poo, but in adults, voluntarily holding it in is just going to lead to impaction where the stool is rock hard.

Obviously it's nice to hear that we won't die from this, but I can't imagine a rock hard impacted shit being overly comfortable. The only way to relieve the pressure and pain at this stage will be through the use of laxatives, which usually does the trick. However, in some cases, the poo doesn't come out at all! That's where a hospital visit is in order where a doctor would literally have to pull the rock hard shit from your ass. Pretty mortifying right?

So, next time you think about holding it in, I would strongly advise against it.
