i was thinking about becoming a vip just to record the shows but i have been told it does not work half the time and it has not worked all week or the last 3 weekends so is there any point in being a vip.

There's plenty of other benefits like the free minutes you get, free live hardcore shows to boot. The recording feature is currently down but dVious is on the case and when it is sorted it'll be back better than ever with a very much improved VIP only section of the tube too.
