Well the crowd certainly got their money's worth with the first semi final with a 4hr 9min 5 setter that Djokovic eventually won 2-6, 7-6, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Stan Wawrinka had a great match for his first semi final, I'll have whatever he's been on...
A couple of breaks in the first set saw Stan take an early lead while Djokovic didn't look that comfortable at all and I thought, oh no, another Murray match... but his anger outburst at the end of the set must have worked as they traded a break each in the 2nd set to take it to a tie break that Nole won 7-4.
Just a single break in the 3rd set was enough for Stan to take the upper hand again but Djokovic took a 3-0 lead after a break in the 4th set after Wawrinka had a penalty point for breaking his racquet (he had a warning previously for smashing the ball away...), then later that set Stan went off for a bit of treatment in a medical time out that Djokovic didn't seem to happy about, and when he returned none the worse for wear he couldn't save the set, so we were down to a last set decider...
1-1 all in the 5th, then we had a treat to a 21 minute game and 12 deuce points that Wawrinka eventually held, but he couldn't hold his next service game and that was enough to let Djokovic serve out for the match.
If you look at the stats they won 165 points a piece but Wawrinka's 69 unforced errors compared to Nole's 46 was probably the deciding factor...
I was really impressed with Wawrinka, he had Djokovic running all over the place, he could out hit him too, but I suppose Djokovic's experience held out in the end, well done Stan though, looks like he's been listening to Federer after all...
Seed #1 into the final, and I doubt it will be long before #2 joins him...
