Well well, wasn't qualifying a turn up for the books, not the top two of course, that wasn't really in question, but the rest of the field it seems had a bit of a torrid time trying to get the tyres to work properly...
Here's the results from qualifying...
Out in Q1 - apart from the usual suspects, Maldonado and Sutil went out. While Sutil it seems had an issue with the car, Maldonado was basically blaming the 'team' for saboutaging his car... sad really Pastor, I thought you was better than that, Williams is better off without you.
Out in Q2 - Nico Rosberg had a truly terrible time, not able to get the tyres working at all he said. Massa and Button also weren't too happy...
Q3 Maldonado may have been moaning but Bottas was truly flying, only a a few mistakes on his lap meant he only made 9th spot.
One place ahead was another Finn, Kovalainen who continued his impressive weekend, while his team mate Grosjean was the closest to the Red Bulls in 3rd.
Two Mexicans also made the top 10 in what was effectively their home race with Perez in 7th and Gutierrez in 10th, while 4th was a surprise spot for Nico Hulkenberg who could be finding himself without a drive next year!!!
That leaves a disappointed looking Lewis Hamilton in 5th, well he always looks disappointed these days... and of course Alonso in 6th.
Apart from the Red Bulls who should take the podium, it should be an interesting race tomorrow. Depending on the temperatures and how the tyres respond we may see some surprises... and Williams will be keeping everything crossed that Bottas can get a point or two to cement the 9th place in the championship.
