It might look like the plot to every cliche porno ever made, but believe it or not - hot birds can be plumbers too.
30-year-old Carly Gayle, has been working as a plumber for 15 years yet she admits she often has trouble with men taking her seriously. She revealed that when she turns up at a customers house, nine times out of them they’ll ask 'Where's the man?'
While Carly earns upwards of £36,000 a year from her own plumbing business, she says she has to constantly battle with sexist blokes and their remarks. However, Carly says she in high demand from female customers and vulnerable elderly folks.
When Carly went to learn plumbing at college, she was apparently one of just two girls among 200 boys learning the trade. She says :
Quote:I once had a woman tell me 'You look like a model - I can't believe you're a plumber’
Err, well yeah you do love! Take the compliment. However, not all comments are as innocent:
Quote:There's been other times I've been in B&Q in my normal clothes with my handbag, looking at tools - knowing exactly what I'm looking for - and have had groups of lads come up to me and say 'Don't hurt yourself darling'. "I just flash them my Gas Safe register card, and they soon shut up.
Jesus, some dudes are proper tossers. Carly continues:
Quote:It's a very dirty job, I come home with wood shavings in my bra and knickers, when you're drilling through wood it gets absolutely everywhere.
Queue the comments: ‘you can drill my wood anyway sweet’art’. Even Carly’s husband likes to drop a few cheesy one-liners once in a while. I’m fact, his first chat up line to Carly was “I wouldn't mind you coming to take a look at my pipes”. Damn, I can’t believe that shit actually worked! Good on her though, it sounds like she’s smashing it in a predominantly-male career. Go on girl! But if you ever fancy posing in a bikini, give us a holla!
