Claudio Marchisio could be on his way from Juventus to Man Utd for £20m. It's unclear whether that's instead of
Paul Pogba and
Arturo Vidal or in addition to, and David Moyes is just trying to nick their midfield wholesale. It's not that the middle of the park doesn't need some attention (far from it) but if reports of an Old Trafford clear-out in which
Nemanja Vidic,
Rio Ferdinand and
Patrice Evra are all shown the door turn out to be true then the defence might need a spot of work as well. Busy.
Say what you want about Daniel Levy, but who else could get £6m for
Jermain Defoe, who's 31, and hasn't scored a league goal all season? His move to Toronto looks to be close, though there is talk of the MLS side loaning him back to Spurs until the start of their season in March. There's also murmurs of
Erik Lamela getting packed off to Juve with
Mirko Vucinic and a few quid coming the other way.
Arsenal, Man City, Liverpool and Southampton are all getting worked up over Anderlecht defender
Cheikhou Kouyate. The Senegal international has got a Belgian passport now, work permit fans. Sticking with the Gunners, Arsene Wenger wants a new striker. Any one of Mario
Mandzukic,
Diego Costa,
Jackson Martinez,
Edin Dzeko and
Wayne Rooney will do. He's not fussy.
Lacina Traore, for some unknown reason, might be about to swap Monaco for East London and West Ham. Just on loan mind, not really something you'd want to inflict on yourself long-term is it? The Hammers have also bid £2m for
Rickie Lambert apparently. £2m.
Lastly,
Shane Long may or may not be off to Hull for £5m, which is true of everything really. I, for example, may or may not be getting noshed off by a member of a well-known girl band whilst typing this...
