Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa could have been lining up for Arsenal yesterday had Chelsea, evil scourge of the modern game that they are, not got the deals sorted early in yet another demonstration of foul play. You wouldn't catch Arsene Wenger planning ahead, far from it, just marvel as he rails against the big boys and instead signs players six months too late. Like Sami Khedira, who's joining in January for quite a few million less than he might have cost in the summer. Another moral victory in the absence of any on the pitch. There's talk of Marseille pair Andre Pierre Gignac and Sebastian Giovinco (both strikers, probably better than Costa) too.
Looks like Yaya Toure could be headed to PSG after all. Though in contrast to the summer, when he was very much still pre-alarming dip in form, this time it's City who'll be doing all the legwork. They'll replace him with either Paul Pogba or Cheick Tiote apparently. Wonder which of the two is their preferred target?
We're getting closer to an answer on just how much Falcao's going to cost. Word is he'll be part of a £95m 'double swoop' this January along with Arturo Vidal. So £55m for him and £40m for the Chilean? Who's counting? Certainly not Ed Woodward. Cracking bit of logic here; If Ronaldo's Old Trafford return proves too tricky to complete, United will go for Gareth Bale instead. That'll be loads easier...
If you were being cynical you may suggest that talk of Raheem Sterling being a target for Real Madrid or PSG was just a ploy to speed along contract negotiations with Liverpool. He'll sign in the next few days, £100,000 a week. And Iker Casillas is being lined up for a switch to Anfield just in case the Victor Valdes move doesn't materialise.
Southampton are ready to offer Morgan Schneiderlin a new deal, Spurs will take their frustration out on Anderlecht. Andy Najar's a winger and will cost £4m.
