Rather than sign Victor Valdes before the deadline (he won't be fit for a WHOLE MONTH) they're going to wait until he's fully recovered and hope the Premier League allow them to amend their 25-man squad mid-season. Probably saved themselves a couple of hundred grand there! Or, maybe they're not actually interested.
