Arsenal or Man Utd. Defensively, who's the most screwed? The Gunners have at least up until now managed to avoid any five-goal collapses, despite rolling with only six fit defenders, but in terms of numbers United seem to be catching up (down?) pretty quick. Still, it's all about how you react, and the deathly silence from Arsene Wenger's end (Diego Lugano and Mario Yepes are still available you know) doesn't bode well. Louis van Gaal, on the other hand, has got designs on former United youngster Gerard Pique (now 27) and Valencia's Argentina international Nicolas Otamendi, who's £40m price-tag only seems a little bit ridiculous these days. The bad news is either of them will have to wait until January, by when it may well be too late.
Both clubs are after Marco Reus (not overly keen on signing a new deal at Dortmund) and Anderlecht's 15-year-old keeper Mile Svilar too. The latter's the new Thibaut Courtois apparently. Quite annoying, as I''m only just getting used to the old one. They're like bloody iPhones those Thibaut Courtois'.
Cristiano Ronaldo. Sort of sounded as if he might fancy 'coming home' for a bit there. It's seeming less likely as the days pass though, and could go either way really. If only some United fans could organise a plane with a banner hanging off the back of it to fly over the Bernabeu, that'd definitely swing it.
If that little slice of guerrilla devotion does pay off, then Real will move for Raheem Sterling to replace him. Atletico, along with Inter Milan, have got their eye on Spurs' Roberto Soldado and Man City target Ross Barkley is not for sale. Should imagine that's the last we'll hear of that one then.
