TRANSFER RUMOURS - 24th June

Seeing as he only scored 7 goals in the Bundesliga last season, think of Liverpool's new £29m man Roberto Firmino as a Raheem Sterling replacement rather a belated Luis Suarez one. And that near-£30m price tag? Actually minus £21m once Man City meet the Reds' asking price for Sterling, any Scouse-Maths practitioner worth their salt will tell you that.
So all in all a pretty good deal then? Well, if City don't increase their offer beyond the £40m already offered (that's Chelsea's limit also) then we're looking at a fee of just minus £11m, which is even less than the minus £15m they paid for Andy Carroll. And all of a sudden it seems a bit risky...
Petr Cech to Arsenal. Any minute now, just you watch.
Chelsea will look to replace him with Stoke keeper Asmir Begovic. There's an £8m bid being readied which may or may not include Victor Moses as a makeweight. The Nigeria winger, who spent last season on loan at the Britannia, hopes not. Man's got his eye on bigger things.
In other swap deal news, Bayern Munich are hoping Bastian Schweinsteiger and a few quid on top might tempt Man Utd to part with Angel Di Maria, while there's talk of David De Gea and Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos swapping places as well. Try and pick a net-spend figure out of that lot, Liverpool fans.
What else? Newcastle are still favourites to land QPR striker Charlie Austin, but Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking can't work out why Bas Dost would want to swap Champions League football at the Volkswagen Arena for mid-table anonymity (at best) under Steve McLaren. And he's got a point. in fairness.
Sunderland are looking to break their transfer record with an offer somewhere north of £11m for PSV winger Georginio Wijnaldum, West Ham will fork out a similar amount for Marseille's Dimitri Payet, and Andrea Pirlo will wind down his glorious career alongside Frank Lampard in the NYCFC midfield. Anyone else dreaming of a City loan move?
