TRANSFER RUMOURS - 24th APRIL

The Sun quoted Victor Wanyama as saying that Arsene Wenger wanted to sign him. Quite an off-message declaration that, what with his current side Southampton still fighting for European qualification, so he took to Twitter to call bullshit. Quite an off-key denial that, when it's been two years since his last move and his agent wouldn't mind a new Bentley, actually. So he deleted the denial and left it with some non-committal talk of respecting Arsenal but also just wanting to concentrate on the remainder of the season. He's off, isn't he?
Alternatively (there's no way Wenger's signing TWO defensive midfielders), the Gunners will go for Sporting Lisbon's William Carvalho. He'd have cost you the thick end of £30m once upon a time but these days the Portuguese club are willing to talk business with whoever can stump up £21.5m.
Marseille. The poor beggars are getting picked apart like Southampton circa 2014. First up we've got Chelsea and Juventus squabbling over £25m-rated midfielder Gianelli Imbula, and then there's Tottenham, telling anyone who'll listen just how much they dig Florian Thauvin's vibe. But the worst of it is the news that they could be about to lose Andre Ayew to Newcastle. Newcastle! Tough times...
A highly skilled and top secret delegation of officials, headed by none other than Louis van Gaal, have held talks at an unspecified location with Memphis Depay and his team of representatives. £35m is the latest figure to be quoted, but details are otherwise sketchy. Stay tuned for developments.
Inter Milan have joined Real Madrid (apparently) in the race to sign Stoke keeper Asimir Begovic, West Ham are keen on Javier Hernandez after he did a goal in the week, and Man Utd have once again been linked with Wesley Sneijder. Summer's coming.
