  Alan Pardew’s not happy after Arsenal’s bid for Yohan Cabaye yesterday afternoon caused his Newcastle side to lose 4-0 at Man City last night. The France midfielder could have been professional and done what he’s paid to do of course, Steven Taylor could have tried to not get sent off as well, but no, it was definitely that £12m bid to blame. Newcastle rejected it as derisory and will hold out for closer to £20m. PSG are ready to bid £15m.
  
  ‘Double swoops’ are so hot right now. The Gunners are lining up a £35m one for Swansea pair Michu and Ashley Williams and Man Utd will up their £28m offer for Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini by the end of the week. Alternatively, the Guardian reckons they’ll now split the bids. Roberto Martinez will use any funds raised to make moves for James McCarthy and Gareth Barry.
  
  Javier Hernandez has rejected a move to Valencia to stay at Old Trafford and fight for his place instead. The competition could be about to get fiercer though with United showing a ‘firm interest’ in Samuel Eto’o.
  
  Scott Parker is the latest addition to Fulham's Masters side and Aly Cissokho has completed his season-long loan deal at Liverpool.

  i love how fragile some of these players are. it's a joke, it's only a game of football not brain surgery and he's acting like he was told a family member had died. if i was pardew i'd have given him a slap and told him to man up.

  I thought that might actually be a joke Scotty but when I read this https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23765521 I was laughing my ass off... That has to be the mother of all excuses, and it's only game 1 of the season...
  I love transfer time.. it's comedy genius or should that be comedy morons...

  it is actually ridiculous, i wish someone like brian clough was still managing. imagine if someone 30 years tried to use that excuse on him, they wouldn't have been able to play cuz he probably would have knocked them out.

  I think Pardew brings the comedy whether it's transfer season or not, a quite ridiculous man.
  
  A slap and a stiff word would probably have sufficed, but once you've used it as an excuse in the media your players can pretty much do as they please.
  
  A fiver says he won't 'be right' at the weekend either if they haven't sold him by then.

  yeah his team can do as they please now really. i'd be more worried about january if they are struggling there will be alot of their players acting out to force moves i think.

  According to Sky Italia (not sure what they've got to do with it), Tottenham and Real Madrid have agreed a £93m deal for the transfer of Gareth Bale.
  
  Fabio Coentrao will move the other way apparently, but it's unclear whether it's £93m plus the Portugal left-back, or if the deal is worth that including him.
  
  You reckon something might actually be about to happen? Or is this just more speculation?

  i wouldn't be suprised if this is true, he's not in their europa squad, they are supposed to be after wilian who will cost 30m which would put their spending at around 90m and i don't know were they will get that money from. plus ekotto is terrible and by far weakest in their starting 11, coentrao would be a quality addition.

  Safe to say it's going to happen at some point, and you'd imagine Tottenham would accept the sort of figures being mentioned.
  
  And as you say, Coentrao would be a good addition.

  yeah it's crazy money for one player, it's just way too good to turn down. they have a really strong squad now thanks to this deal. if they do get coentrao and sign a decent replacement i think they have done great business.
