  Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Real Madrid are in talks with Tottenham over the transfer of Gareth Bale, though it seems they’re yet to submit a formal offer. The Guardian are saying that Spurs would be willing to accept a bid of €100m (£86m) with Spain under-21 international striker Alvaro Morata thrown in, which would take the total value of the transfer past the £100m mark. Mental figures, but it looks like something might be about to happen at last…
  
  Newcastle’s move for Darren Bent has collapsed (what’s the betting Joe Kinnear got homophobic?) leaving Fulham in pole position to sign the Aston Villa striker for somewhere between £4m and £6m. The Cottagers (narf) are also keen on ill-discipline’s Lee Cattermole while the Magpies will now turn their attentions to a loan move for Loic Remy, and their interest in Batefimbi Gomis is apparently still alive too.
  
  Shock on Merseyside as Everton give Joey Barton (a player deemed surplus to requirements at a Championship club) a miss. Even the fact that he was willing to drop his wages to just £35,000 a week wasn’t enough to persuade Roberto Martinez it seems. The Toffees will instead move for former Liverpool midfielder Momo Sissoko, as will QPR funnily enough. Will Barton be the consolation prize?
  
  West Brom are in talks with Salomon Kalou and hard-as-nails Uruguay captain Diego Lugano.
  
  And Roberto Soldado could at last be about to join Tottenham. Hallelujah! He’s been left out of Valencia’s US tour you see.

  Deal agreed for Soldado`
  
  We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Valencia for the transfer of Roberto Soldado subject to medical.
  
  The striker netted 80 times in 146 appearances during his time at the Mestalla who he joined from Getafe in 2010, after impressing with a tally of 29 goals in 60 league appearances.
  
  The 28-year-old began his career at Real Madrid where he scored 63 goals in 120 league appearances for the B side, Real Madrid Castilla, also featuring on 16 occasions for the First Team either side of a loan move to Osasuna in season 2006-7 when he scored 11 goals in 30 appearances before moving to Getafe in 2008.
  
  The Spain international now has 11 caps to his name and is the scorer of six goals for his country, with his most recent appearances coming in the Confederations Cup, staged in Brazil in June.

  Rumour has it that Tottenham and Real have agreed a £104m deal for Bale, but it won't be announced until Spurs have made 3 more signings. Soldado being the first, Suarez possibly the second and who knows, Coentrao the third?

  I say when they hit the right figure, Levy will agree. He wants the largest amount possible and Madrid are working out payment options. Dont forget, we went through this with Modric and he had to wait another season because Real didnt come up with the right offer, Levy is a shrewd bussiness man

  He's a cracking negotiator, but if I was a Spurs fan I'd be worried about dragging it out over 3 or 4 weeks, haggling for the sake of a few million quid, and then not having enough time to get some proper replacements in.
  
  I know he likes a cheeky deadline day deal but the trouble with those is that the player won't have had a summer to settle and adapt, and 2 or 3 games are already gone. it could be the difference between qualifying for the Champions League and not.

  To be honest you cant replace Bale, but the business they have done already is the right business if he does leave. 3 quality signings with a winger that can play upfront also, Paulhino is a beast and Saldado is quality scorer. What we need to get is a defender to replace Caulker leaving

  But would you be happy with the squad knowing you had £100-odd-million to go and buy some world class players with? I agree the signings so far have been quality but not sure that squad minus Bale would qualify for the Champions League.

  Couple of Championship moves now.
  
  Charlie Austin has left Burnley and signed for QPR for an undisclosed fee. The striker failed a medical at Hull last month but his injury worries are presumably behind him now. I mean, it's not like Rangers to be reckless with their transfer policy, is it? Oh...
  
  And Bournemouth have signed Norwich midfielder Andrew Surman on a season-long loan deal. The ex-Southampton player looked a real prospect in his younger days but has struggled with injuries in recent years. Good signing for Bournemouth though and he should get plenty of games down on the south coast.

  We still need to build our new stadium, so yes. We have a stacked squad to be honest, just needed more creativity and thats what the new signings give us. oh and now a defending because for some reason we sold Caulker, I am still miffed about that

  Yeah it was a strange one to sell Caulker, especially with Dawson being the only fit centre half right now.
  
  Apparently you're interested in Vlad Chiriches from Steaua Bucharest? Don't know much about him to be honest.
