Ruddy hell. According to the Observer Real Madrid have actually bid for Gareth Bale, and possibly for the first time ever in football, an offer of £86m has been rejected. Classic Daniel Levy you might say, make em wait til August 31st, don't accept a penny under £100m... Our Gareth quite fancies lining up alongside Cristiano Ronaldo (a quite terrifying prospect) and is said to be distraught at the offer being turned down. This just got real.
Not wanting to appear biased, Real will also terrorise the other half of North London by making a move for Arsenal target Luis Suarez. With Gonzalo Higuain's move to Napoli now complete, options are running thin for the Gunners, and Madrid are a striker short as well, obviously. Those pesky Spaniards.
The Sunday Mirror say Wayne Rooney won't be allowed to join any of Man Utd's Premier League rivals. Bad news for Chelsea, good news for Arsenal! I'm here all week...
The Express reckon Cesc Fabregas has agreed a move to Old Trafford. He probably hasn't, mind. There's the small matter of getting a bid accepted to worry about first, the Mail say that could be increased to £36m.
Claudio Ranieri has denied any Monaco interest in Nani. Fair enough, I wouldn't go shouting about it either.
And anyone who doubted Joe Kinnear's ability to attract top names to Newcastle might want to get their humble pie in the oven, he's made enquiries about Sunderland right-back Phil Bardsley. He's also increased the offer for Batefimbi Gomis to £6.9m.
