TRANSFER NEWS & GOSSIP: Sunday 21st July

I’ve come to realise that Sunday transfer rumours are a kind of omnibus, the Eastenders marathon of made-up stories. As such, lets have a look at what you might have missed…
Chelsea are ready to offer £40m for Wayne Rooney and pay him £200,000 a week, which is both mental and still a pay-cut as far as I’m aware. Probably enough to keep him in hair transplants, mind.
United will only let him leave if they sign Gareth Bale and Cesc Fabregas though. They’ll bid £30m for the Spain international and double his Barcelona salary too.
Spurs are still preparing that £18m bid for Roberto Soldado. Are they counting the cash out in coppers?
Julio Cesar will have to take a pay cut if he wants to leave QPR for Arsenal. Everything wrong with QPR is there in that sentence. The Gonzalo Higuain deal could be back on, Napoli are unwilling to pay £35m. Arsenal are willing, allegedly.
Norwich are being linked with Fabio Quagliarella, which is possibly more ridiculous than the Maxi Lopez rumour.
And Liverpool have been knocked back in their attempt to sign Ryan Bertrand from Chelsea. Burn.
