In: Roberto Soldado (Valencia, £26m), Paulinho (Corinthians, £17m), Nacer Chadli (FC Twente, £7m), Étienne Capoue (Toulouse, £9m).

Out: Steven Caulker (Cardiff, £8m), Clint Dempsey (Seattle Sounders, £6m), Tom Huddlestone (Hull, £5m), John Bostock (Royal Antwerp, Free), Jack Bartram, Nathan Byrne (both Swindon, Free), Grant Hall, Massimo Luongo, Alex Pritchard, Ryan Mason (all Swindon, Loan), Tomislav Gomelt (Royal Antwerp, Loan), Bongani Khumalo (Doncaster, Loan), Jake Livermore (Hull, Loan), Adam Smith (Derby, Loan).
    Released: David Bentley, William Gallas.

    Prediction: 4th

Not sure selling Caulker was particularly wise, but it’s been a good window for Spurs so far and they’ve spent big on some quality players. It’s doubtful that £60m would have been laid out were they not expecting a tidy windfall from the sale of a certain Welsh international though.

Even without Bale, I’d still back them to improve on last season and finish above an Arsenal side that show no signs of improving on 2012/13. If, and it’s a big if, Bale does end up staying then I’d fancy them to challenge for the title. Can’t see that happening though, so 4th.

if i was a tottenham fan i would be very excited if they kept bale, because they have bought some very good players to add to a solid sqaud. soldado should get 20 league goals, he is a quality finisher. alot hinges on if bale is their.

I think it's best to assume he won't be. Title challengers if he is though.

i agree 100 percent with you on this, if he goes it will be close with arsenal again for fourth, but if he stays and produces what he did last season coupled with soldado's goals they should challenge. they are gonna be strong in cm as well.

Word is that after that nasty 6-0 defeat to Man City, AVB could be on the verge of losing his job.

Disappointing losses against West Ham and Arsenal haven't helped his cause either, and apparently there is concern over Erik Lamela and Robert Soldado's (£60m worth of players) struggles to integrate.

All told, Spurs spent £110m in the summer (though they did lose Gareth Bale) and for that kind of outlay they're clearly under-performing at the moment. Is that down to teething problems brought about by such an influx of new players? Or is AVB just not up to the job?

Sunday's visit of Man Utd could be crucial in deciding his fate.

Sherwood's gone. Only signed an 18 month deal 5 minutes ago but there was an end of season break clause apparently. Thrifty.

His record wasn't all that bad really (59% win record) but he did ruffle quite a few feathers. That can't have helped.

Pochettino (11/10) and Frank De Boer (13/8) are the early favourites to take over. All well and good, but they don't know the club, not like Tim does...

His gilet will be missed n'all.
