In the end the killer is a disgruntled teen who was so obsessed with Champ Manager on his PC for whom that the lines of reality and fiction became blurred. Although obsessed with the game he was lousy at it and he took the loss of his best players to another team personally and then went on the hunt for that manager in real life.
You see that's why it was so hard for Luther to find him, his murders although linked by theme were actually completely random based on the games algorithm. So how did Luther find him in the end? Find out in the next chilling episode.
