With the show Catfish being so hugely popular you’d think more people would be wise to the tricks and lies of Internet relationships but clearly some people still have a lot to learn, like the dude in today’s story. He spent 6 years in a relationship with someone he believed to be Katy Perry. It was only when he traveled from America to England to meet her that he realised he’d been duped.

Spencer Morrill reached out to MTV show Catfish after Katy Perry refused to meet him despite the pair exchanging messages for 6 years. Funnily enough no red flags were raised by Spencer when Katy Perry got hitched to Russell Brand or dated Orlando Bloom during that time. In fact, Spencer believed that Katy was hiding messages for him. Here’s a clip for the episode:
