These are Top Gear's Performance Car Of The Year Contenders
I'll be sure to let you know when the longer, more drivesy footage lands but for now let's just enjoy Chris Harris introducing this year's assembled contenders, which count amongst their number the Ford GT, McLaren 720S and the, err, VW Up! GTI.



Mind you, if the souped Up! can tempt people who drive Those Sorts Of Cars to go a bit faster than 20 mph once in a while then it'll have undoubtedly been a success.

Well I'd say these are all shiny and lovely but I find them to be garish and crass looking, oh yeah and way out of my price range.  I want to know what is the best car of this year for day to day use like popping to the supermarket or visiting a courtesan.
