A more weekly, less daily and less tiresome look at the paper shifters...
Say what you want about the summer transfer rumours (‘they were mostly bollocks’ etc) but at least there was a bit of variation. On any given day you could read about unknown foreign players on their way to Sunderland, Spurs fringe players headed to QPR, West Brom loan deals… Such a rich tapestry.
Now though, in the off-season, it’s like no-one can be bothered anymore, and we’re just left with the same big names being linked to the same big clubs. I’d go as far to suggest it’s nothing more than a cynical ploy to sell papers to gullible glory-hunters, if I was a cynic.
So, without further ado…
These players have been linked with
Man Utd: Robert Lewandowski, Ross Barkley.
These could be on their way to
Arsenal: Kyriakos Papadopoulos, Fernando Llorente, Victor Valdes.
Chelsea are after this lot: Robert Lewandowski (him again), Ross Barkley (him again), Fernando Llorente (him again).
Just the one for
Man City: Victor Valdes (him again).
Spurs, they like a spend don’t they: Fernando Llorente (him again), Stephan El Shaarawy, Juan Mata. Could be a few on their way too, Sandro and Lewis Holtby to Roma and Emmanuel Adebayor to QPR (reeeeeyyyy!).
Finally,
Liverpool: Will Hughes, Lacina Traore. At least they’re being original.
And that’s about it. If you happen to support someone other than one of the big six listed above, you’re shit out of luck. Go home.
