  Ana de Armas is set to star in Netflix's highly anticipated new release about movie icon, Marilyn Monroe. The biopic, titled 'Blonde', was originally deemed as too sexual for Netflix but they've managed to sort it by slapping a NC-17 rating on it. Here's what director Andrew Dominik had to say about the film:
   
  

  Quote:It’s a demanding movie. If the audience doesn’t like it, that’s the f*cking audience’s problem. It’s not running for public office. It’s an NC-17 movie about Marilyn Monroe, it’s kind of what you want, right? I want to go and see the NC-17 version of the Marilyn Monroe story.

  Obviously that teaser doesn't give much away but even if you aren't interested in watching the film, I'm pretty sure people will tune in just for the graphic content alone.

  Some actresses become legends. Marilyn Monroe was more than that, she was an icon. My hope is that this film will focus on her ability as an actress, especially her underrated comedic timing, rather than just her status as a sex symbol. Ana De Armas is an incredible actress, so I know she's going to be amazing in this role and probably gain an Oscar nomination. But with this film being a NC-17, which is the equivalent an 18 rated film in the UK, I doubt the plot will be centred around her career making Some Like It Hot and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Instead it'll probably be about the nude photos she took, and which Hugh Hefner later bought so he could put them in the first issue of Playboy.

  Ana De Armas looks amazing in the official trailer for Blonde. Bobby Cannivale and Adrian Brody as Joe DiMaggio and Arthur Miller are perfect casting choices. I like that they've taken the approach of focusing on Norma Jean instead of Marilyn as the basis for this film.
