I was really disappointed with Mortal Kombat, and I actually enjoyed the original film from the 90's more. The intro scene with Scorpion and Sub Zero was great, it established the characters and their rivalry perfectly. Then when it moved forward to the present day with Lewis Tan's character is when it started to lose my interest. Jax and Sonia were decent, but Kano was the most entertaining character in the entire film. The second act dragged due it establishing so many additional supporting characters and protagonists. The training sequence was OK, but the explanation of fatalities was kinda dumb. The third act picked up due to the return of Scorpion and Sub Zero. The cliffhanger of Johnny Cage being in the sequel was underwhelming, due to the fact that they'll probably won't make one, because this film was a commercial and critical failure. When they eventually reboot Mortal Kombat again, they should just keep it simple and make it a tournament fighting film like Enter The Dragon and Bloodsport.
