So the teaser for the final hobbit film is out, well the final film unless Peter Jackson decides he wants to stretch it out for two more films, trailer below
Thoughts?
Personally i think with these films Peter Jackson has very much missed the point of the story, i mean they aren't awful films and it doesn't look terrible but in trying to make them dark and epic they've totally overshadowed Bilbo and his role in the story and reduced him to a supporting character when he shouldn't be. And in making it a trilogy they've drawn it out way too much. -

I realised recently that the hobbit films have both been really successful. In my mind I thought they'd done terribly, at least compared to the originals, but the last one was really well reviewed and made a load of money. Surely I'm not the only one who though the barrel scene was the worst thing in any of the films? -

I just think the whole hobbit trilogy is a joke. The two movies that have been released so far are just bloated drawn out pieces of cinema. The "Hobbit" is not even a 300 page book and yet it takes over 7 hours of films to tell this story. It's just a way to take as much money from the fans as they can. -

This trilogy is just an excuse to make like $3bn. I'm STILL waiting for Kanye West's song for the soundtrack...

Am i the only one who was actually pretty sad at the release of the trailer for the hobbit?? This is the last film in a middle earth era. J.R.R Tolkens estate have said that they don't want anymore films being made so it really is the last ever film!!! :( -

I would probably care more that it was the last middle earth film if i hadn't had found the previous two very underwhelming. they could easily have made it one or two films but more focused on the original stories actual events. Most of what is in the films is made up or taken from other of Tolkien's work (which just isn't neccesary).
The kim Kardashian/Kanye version would be......interesting lol. -

It felt like each film getts more consistently serious. Like, Hobbit 1 was 50/50, or so. Then Hobbit 2 was like 66/33. I expect that to continue here to be like 75/25, in favor of serious -- remember that about LOTR 1 was around 80/20 or so, then 90/10, then 95/5 by Return of the King. I think that was deliberate. -

The hobbit didn't need to be that serious though, it's not that serious a book. And it does seem daft to me that Bilbo appears for only a few seconds in the new trailer, Legolas and the elf woman (forget her name) get more trailer time than the title character (he wasn't even in the hobbit and she doesn't exist in any of the books).
