  Marvel are back with their second Disney+ special presentation, but this time it's Christmas themed Guardians of Galaxy adventure, after the recent Werewolf by Night Halloween special presentation. It appears that Star Lord is feeling lonely without Gamora, so Drax and Mantis decide to head to Earth and find his a nice present for Christmas that'll lift his spirit. Nebula, Groot, Rocket, Kraglin and Cosmo will be on the journey too.

  James Gunn follows in Michael Giachianno's footsteps of being the second director to use the special presentation format of telling a story within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This wonderfully delightful adventure begins with an animated flashback narrated by Sean Gunn's Kraglin telling Mantis, Drax and Nebula on Knowhere about Starlord's previous experience of Christmas with Yondu. Once that concludes James Gunn's brilliant use of music as a storytelling tool is brought to the forefront in a song. As this story progresses Mantis and Drax decide to take a trip with the objective of making Starlord happy. The main cameo appearance is perfectly cast and played, not only in a comedic way but also a dramatically and musically. This is a lovely experience to watch with the family during the holiday season, and the Christmas soundtrack is just as good as the soundtracks for the two previous Guardians soundtracks were. Dave Bautista is amazing as Drax once again, but the star of the show is Pom Klemetieff as Mantis. She plays the role with such comic and emotional depth and subtlety. Her eyes, facial expression and vocal inflictions are perfectly used each and every time when necessary. We're also given greater insight into her character's backstory. A very nice new addition to the cast was Maria Bakalova as the voice of Cosmo. The end of James Gunn's story with the Guardian's in his third volume cannot come soon enough.
