The Edge of Seventeen

Having seen most of the films up for awards this awards season (with the exception of 'Jackie' that doesnt appealĀ and 'La La Land' whose appeal i find comparable to having my balls ripped off), its been a pretty shocking awards season..with a few exceptions..Hacksaw Ridge, Moana and, very unexpectadly this..The Edge of Seventeen. Has anyone else seen the film? What did you think? Being a guy of my years, the likelyhood, on the face of it, the chances of a film dealing with the so called trials and tribulations of a 17 year old american girl doesnt sound even remotely interesting. That said, i took a chance..and this actually turned out to be a very likeable movie. Starring Hailee Stinfeld and Woody Harrelson, the premise is a simple one '17 year old girls best freind starts dating said girls older brother'. To say any more would spoil (the trailer elaborates). Te film is what it is owing to not only the occassional funny, very perceptive script but also the performances by its leads (especially Harrelson..he is fantastic in this, a deadpan comedy masterclass). Recommended.
