Ok DC animated movies fans..we knew this was on the horizon. Got around to checking out 'The death of superman' last night and personally, for me, it was by no means perfect..but in some respects it was. How the tale plays out, its no secret as w have seen int in paper, animated and live action movie form on a number of occassions. It's the finer details that make the difference then. Ok, as far as the negative goes, the dialogue and vocal performances, most natably in the first half of the film are pretty diabolical..just doesn't flow right. That and for an animated project of this calibre, really should have bought in the creme de la creme vocals wise. The script work was pretty dire and for the first half of the film, it all feels a bit melodramatic with whole scenes just seemingly there andserving no useful purpose..and then Doomsday shows up and all that changes. The lead up to the inevitable showdown and the showdown itself are both drawn out to great effect ( no 5 minute final battle here) and im please to say are action packed. Its so obvious that the bulk of the work on this went into the films 2nd half (or thereabouts). Stick with this and you will be rewarded (assuming you are not all groaned out at the pointless scenes and melodrama in the 1st half).
