There’s a new video game on the market from Sam Barlow, the creator of
Her Story and
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories and it looks freakin amazing. It’s all won a BAFTA which is pretty insane!
Telling Lies is an investigative thriller game that revolves around a cache of secretly recorded video conversations. Starring Logan Marshall-Green (Tom Hardy’s doppelgänger), Alexandra Shipp, Kerry Bishé and Angela Sarafyan,
Telling Lies sits the player in front of a laptop loaded with a bunch of stolen footage on the NSA database.
The intimate footage has been stolen from four people whose stories are linked by an incident. You’ve got to watch the video chats and search the database and try to piece together your story. You as the player get to decide the truth of the story.
Check out the trailer:
I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite like this game before and the acting is pretty incredible too. It’s got some Black Mirror: Bandersnatch vibes about it except obviously the game isn’t multiple choice like Bandersnatch. it’s been getting killer reviews at E3, with Gamesradar having this to say:
Quote:Sam Barlow has another masterpiece on his hands.
IGN called it “one of this year’s best video game stories”, while PC Gamer had this to say:
Quote:An atmospheric, brilliantly written and acted detective thriller that tells a compelling story in a unique way.
Reviews don’t get any better than that. I’m not even a gamer but this makes me want to become one.
