SWANN RETIRES
StrumSolo > 23/12/2013, 12:35
255 wickets from 60 tests at an average of 29.96, second only to Derek Underwood in the English spinner wicket standings but overshadowing all that...
"Some people playing at the minute have no idea how far up their own backsides they are and it will bite them on the arse one day. When it does, I hope they will look back and are embarrassed about how they carry on."
Who on earth could he be talking about?
None of the current England squad of course (some impressive back-tracking there).
Not even Kevin Pietersen?
Still, you know you're having a shocker when players start retiring mid-series. In fact it's been so traumatic that he's chucked it in altogether, he can't even face a year or two on the County scene.
Can Monty Panesar nail down a place in the England side now?

Swann was one of the best england spinners after ashley giles. He was making a big impact on the big matches as he wasgetting batsmen out at the right time. his average was phenomenol as you wouldnt have expected a spinner tohave. the only spinner that competed with him at that time was saeed ajmal.
