  It's been 5 months since season 2 of Stranger Things ended and I don't know about you, but I'm already having withdrawal symptoms. Luckily for us, producer and director Shawn Levy has confirmed that filming has just started on the upcoming season. 
  
  
  
  Shawn revealed that the cast and crew had just completed a table read for the first four episodes of season three and things are looking pretty darn exciting. Table reads are a good way for the writers, The Duffer Brothers, to see how the script flows and if any changes need to be made. Shawn says:

The rest of them kind of get written as we shoot, as we edit, as we go.I’m once again directing the third and fourth episodes so that I can give the Duffers a breather, and send them back into the writing cave, so that they can buff out the rest of the season.That’s why I took on these episodes in season one, and now the three of us are just a little too superstitious to mess with what’s worked so far.The prep beyond that, it’s really a similar juggling act where the Duffers, because they always understandably want to direct the kick-off episodes, they have to juggle their limited time between writing and re-writing and prepping as directors, all at the same time.

  
  
  
  Damn. It's no wonder there is such a big gap between seasons. While the Duffer brothers are keeping plot details for season three very hush hush, I've heard that a fourth season has already been commissioned which probably means most of the main characters survive. At least I hope so.
  
  
  
  All of the main characters are set to return for the season three with the added addition of Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride) who will play Mayor Kline of Hawkins and Jake Busey as a local news reporter. Here's hoping the third season is as epic as the last two!

  so if they just started filming now it should be dropping around october i would think, super looking forward to this, and even more because of how they ended the last season
