  I was really saddened to hear about Anton Yelchin. He was incredibly talented actor and I loved his films.

  im glad they announced a 4th movie, as i watched the movie earlier this afternoon, and i have to say I really enjoyed this movie, i read a tweet from someone that had seen it early and gave a one line review slightly negative. but meh

  How does it compare to the previous 2 with not only a change in writer with Simon Pegg but also with switching to the Fast and Furious franchise director Justin Lin?
  
  I am a bit of a Star Trek laymen only having watched the reboot movies and a little Next Generation and I liked the last two as stand alone sci fi action but does this one compete?

  if you liked the last two reboot star trek movies and go watch it with a open mind and not have it made up, you'll probably enjoy it, i have only really watched the reboot's also

  I went to see it on release day and it's a good Star Trek movie.

  Im by no way a full flvedged Trekkie but having watched all the original / next gen films, being a fan of The Next Generation tv series and having watched the reboots prior to this, im quite a tough customer to please (my favourite Trek movie to date is still 'First Contact'..absolutely loved it). Having a comic actor write the script (be him a talented one though) and Mr Fast and the furious calling the shots i am a teeney Weeney bit conncerned. Is tha gonna stop me watching this on home release though..hell no.

  Just watched this tonight, and it was very good. Admittedly I enjoyed the previous 2 as well. The new addition of Jaylah creates some interesting interaction and funny moments (with Scotty in particular). Was good to see Chekov get a bit more to do this film too. Due to the loss of Anton Yelchin it's been confirmed the character won't be recast (So at least he had a more active for his final showing).
  I am curious why the new addition that got added to the crew at the end of Into Darkness wasn't involved. She was on the ship at the start of the 5 year mission (end of the second one) but wasn't even mentioned in this.

  Was that Alice Eve's character or am i getting mixed up, Jesslloydfan. A shame as well, if nothing else, she was fit. The reviews comingg back from this do appears to be airing more on the positive side. Still not sold on Lin but i hope to be proved wrong. Will grab this online as soon as a decent version appears (will certainly buy as well..as long as it doesnt turn out to be bollocks lol).
