Southbound

Have had this sittinng on the laptop for several weeks now, didnt know a tremendous amount about it other than it was an anthology horror film of sorts, just told myself i would get to it as and when..of course if i had known how bleeding good it was gonna be i would have jumped straight on it. Has anyone else seen Southbound? What did you think? The film, directed by Roxanne Benjamin and David Bruckner draws mant similarites to the VHS horror films (probably somethhing to do with them being behind them as well lol). This is shot in the conventional style (no found footage or first person here). This film is another anthology piece with several different (but connected) stories, this time all set seemingly in the middle of nowhere. To say more than that would spoil the film. This is definatly a different beast to the VHS films, theres not a massive reliance on gore..perhaps this is more comparable to say 'The Twilight Zone' but, in no way is that a critiscism. A really enjoyable film, really well crafted, goy when needed but certainly spooky throughout..could even be considered a cautionary tale of sorts. Highly recomended.
