In fairness the minutes played puts it heavily in Pelle and Tadic's favour but I really doubt it would make much difference anyway! You could say it's United bias but so far for me the only ex Saints player who has actually looked like the same player from last year at the moment is Shaw. And he only just came back from an injury!

Do you still think that about Shaw? I thought he look really bad in the West Brom game tonight. I'm sure he'll find form eventually, as will lallana and hopefully even Lambert (although he's arguably been looking the worst out of those who left). As a Southampton fan, it's great to see our new players smash it immediately (obviously) in the prem, but I still think the players we let go are a huge loss. we had so many players go to top four teams in the summer, and it's frustrating to think how god we could be right now. -

The problem for any club of Southampton's size is always going to be the conveyor belt effect that will happen with their best players. Lambert going to Liverpool was an obvious move for him sentimentally but he was never going to do anything but keep the bench warm! I'm staggered that they have lost so many players and just kept on rolling! -

Yeah we were never gonna keep them all AND sign the players we have this summer.
Best you can hope for is that the replacements are as good, if not better, than the ones that have been let go. So far so good on that front. (Potato, Shaw will be world class one day but right now there's not a great deal between him and Bertrand.)
More depth and options now too, which doesn't hurt. -

He was indeed awful last night but one bad game doesn't change that he's looked great in all previous he's played for us. Plus being 19 he is bound to have games like last night from time to time -

I seem to recall Manchester United signed a Portuguese winger as a teenager and the press said he was all style and no substance to start with, whatever happened to him? Then there was that Welsh kid from Southampton who went to Spurs and people questioned that one too. Last I heard they now played for some small team in Spain. If only I could remember their names! -

Januzaj is getting that treatment now aswell. He reminded me so much of young Ronaldo last night, lot's of flash and potential but trying too hard and trying to be a one man show. He's starting to get the same reception young Ronnie got from United fans at that stage of his career, some now saying he doesn't deserve the #11 shirt for example. It's like it's 2005 all over again! -

I love the fact that Southampton have started so well. The number of changes and the new manager could have gone the way of Sunderland, but they seem to be going in exactly the opposite position. I think you can tell that Koeman signed players that he knew and had previous experience of. They have integrated so well so quickly it is pretty amazing. I think that Liverpool and Man U could have a look at the transfer policy of Southampton and learn some lessons.
