  I take it back about Isaac Hayes. I remember at the time that he had left because they took the piss out of Scientology, but looking into it to find you an article about it has revealed something new.
  
  Apparently exactly a year ago (about 10 years after chef left), Hayes' son said that his dad had a stroke and one of the many scientologists around him at the time 'resigned for him'. If his son is to be believed then it looks like he didn't have a choice about it because he was too weak to know what was going on at the time anyway. Pretty shitty to be honest

  Wow..on the back of that you gotta feel sorry for the fella. It was a shame that he had to leave though, really wouldnt have been the same with someone else voicing him either. Does look as though theres no new episode on this week (im assuming thats down to either some stateside hioliday or trey and matt needing more time as the show does now appear to fiocus mostly on recent events for which i suppose you need some kinda inspiirational source material). It is a shame that the show needs to rely on the news or current affairs for its source material as back in the day the stories were original. if they are stumped why not kock out another holiday special (halloween, christmas etc..those are typically always fun when it comes to south park).

  Yes, I think retiring the character made the most sense. Probably would have been uproar to have chef continue on but with a different voice, that never goes down well.
  
  I like the direction of taking it topical as mentioned before, it should ensure that material never goes dry (unless people stop doing things in the world). However, it would be nice to have it maybe 75-25 split in favour of topical. Just so we get some of the original 'pointless' stories of the first few seasons.

  I know right, JamezZ. For such a long time the show (or be it Matt and Trey) were able to create these wonderfully random stories..and nothing but. Weird, wacky, wonderful..you never knew what was coming up next. For that reason also, the show was all the more filthy and all the more near the mark (occassionally crossing that line but the show was all the better for it). Its sad that the focus has shifted t spins on current events, the filth seems all but non existent and very few lines seem to crossed nowadays on the show (well, suppose really taking the piss outta Kim Jong and co was sorta near the mark but still not like the good old days where EVERYTHING was fair game).

  It is probably a decision to try to ensure the show never goes stale. Matt and Trey probably feeling they are older now and starting to lose 'creative drive'. It is easier to come up with a story to wrap a topical issue in than come up with something completely fresh out of thin air I guess.

  For all my critique about the show becoming more topical than completely off the wall random, have gotta admit, i was in stitches with last weeks episode. My god..did it tear strips of Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg or what..i was in fits and giggles. A fantastic episode, in my opinion, the 2nd episode so far this season to fall into that catagory. Hope the rest of the season maages to keep this pace up.

  Haven't had the chance to watch it yet, but I do like ripping into Zuckerberg the android.
  
  Whatever happens in the future, South Park will always be a legend. It paved the way for shows like Family Guy and American Dad. That mix of 'family humour' from The Simpsons and controversial comments from South Park, the kings of each of their fields.

  Suppose with referencing the topical, theres no reason South Park cant just keep running and running as there will always be plenty of fresh material to play with. Oh, would recommend you not only check out last weeks Zuckerberg rip of n episode but also tis weeks almost as funny episode. Awkward to know what to say without saying to much but if nothing else, the reoccuring old lady farts will certainly have ya in giggles if nothing else (assuming yur sense of humour happens to be similar to mine).

  I wonder if after Matt and Trey decide to leave, assuming that happens before South Park ends, will the show decline or a completely fresh approach emerge that revitalizes it.
  
  They are both late 40's I think. The could continue for decades yet, but you also wonder if there comes a time where you just want to sit back and enjoy what you've done.

  Im guessing they are both fans of the fame, cash and what they are knocking out so probably a safe bet they will continue until either they lose their edge, find god or some shit (lol) etc..its a safe bet that they will stick with Soutn Park as long as they are able as lets face it, the other stuff they have tried their hand at has either been a luke warm one trick pony (Team America) or an absolute disaster (didnt they do both a film called Orgazmo and Baseketball..shuddering just thinking about how bad they were). Wish they would knock out another South Park movie..the 1st was fantastic. Have just watched this weeks episode. Certainly not as funny as the previous instalment but certainly no stinker. Jus asking myself what exactly was it a dig at..the whole weinstein issue and now others being accused, the whole clown issue from last year..not entirely sure.
