  A friend showed me minecraft once. Am I right in thinking that each of these would have been mined and created brick by brick by one person?

  Some will have been. Others though make use of the creative gamemode within Minecraft which allows the user to have unlimited access to resources to build with.

  Well that's cheating. They've basically spent too much time playing online Lego if they didn't do the mining bit.

  I used to have a minecraft server, and The Boss ruined it by breeding loads of animals and making giant love hearts in the sky.

  A friend once showed me Minecraft... What's the point of it? I asked. You just build stuff, he said. So I said yea but how much stuff, like... What's the goal? He was like, there ain't one... You just build stuff. So I was like, what... so you just build stuff and build stuff and build stuff for absolutely no reason at all? Surely there's a reason. He said no. Well that's shit, I thought. ...And that is pretty much all I know of Minecraft.

  It's not just about building things. It does involve a combat system to take down various enemies. Whilst there is no set goals, there is something you can work towards. You can get to a dimension called "The End" where you take on an "Enderdragon". To get there involves a lot of work and collection of various items.
