So this is what the 'Straight Pride' flag looks like...

When I first heard about a ‘straight pride’ parade, I thought it was some kind of hilarious Saturday Night Live skit, but alas, this shit is well and truly real! Apparently a bunch of straight white dudes in Boston got together and came to the conclusion that they don’t have enough already and decided to organise their very own parade. 

 

Here’s a statement from organisers: 
 

It looks like the Boston Straight Pride Parade will happen.
We filed a discrimination complaint and it appears the City of Boston understands they would lose in litigation.
The city is now working with us on the parade. We will have the streets closed and be allowed floats and vehicles.
The tentative date is 8/31 but will be finalised in the next few weeks.
If you would like to come as an individual, march as a group, or bring a float or vehicle, then get in touch.
This is our chance to have a patriotic parade in Boston as we celebrate straight pride.

This was their first attempt at a ‘straight pride’ flag but then I think they realised it looked a bit too gay.

Eughhh, what a completely stupid idea but while it's infantile, knee-jerking and does not speak for straight people en mass I do defend their right to want to have their parade. I even hope that it's not met by anyone attempting to picket it or turn it violent in any manner. These fools should be left to have their parade (probably with very low attendance) and when the day is over we can all forget that it happened until the next year.

There are some very disappointing forms of humanity but as long as the parade is peaceful and fun then we should leave them to it.
