A kindergarten principal in China has been sacked after she had organised a pole dancer to come and perform a welcoming ceremony for all the new kids. Errr...surely a box of sweets and some stickers would have been a more appropriate welcome.
Parents who attended the ceremony in Shenzhen were pretty horrified when a pole dancer in hotpants took to the stage to perform in front of their kids, and they slammed the organisers.Journalist Michael Standaert, whose kids go to the Xinshahui Kindergarten, tweeted that when his wife called the school to complain, principal Lai Rong said it was "international and good exercise" before hanging up. I mean she's not wrong, it is good exercise but so is Zumba, which probably would have been more fitting to a group of kids.
Taking to twitter, one concerned parent called the principal ‘nuts’ for putting on the bizarre show.
Quote:So before our kids got out of kindergarten for the summer, there was 10 days of military “activities” and displays of machine guns and mortars at the door; now the principal has welcomed them back with a strip pole dance on the flagpole bearing the PRC flag. She’s gone nuts.
I mean you'd have to agree. What sort of loon would think this is ok?! Principal Lai has since issued an apology, saying she thought "inviting professional dancers to the kindergarten to perform for the parents would liven up the mood" which I guess it did, just not in the way she hoped. She's now been sacked, quite rightly.
