The Substance was my favourite film of 2024. So I decided to watch Fargeat's previous film and god damn she's a very good director, that I'm eager to see create more. Her visual style is captivating and she'll let a scene breathe without any dialogue, which feels so emmersive. But what I love most is that her films force the audience to think. Lutz is great in the lead role and the only other roles in the rest of the film are taken by Janssens, Colombe and Bouchede. Do what I did and don't even bother watching the trailer, just find the film and watch it.
