REDDIT USERS SHARE THEIR CRAZIEST MENTAL ASYLUM STORIES

SmartestGuyOnReddit seems to have the same morbid fascination with mental asylums as I do, as he recently posed a very delving question to the Reddit community -  Mental asylum workers, whats the craziest thing you've witnessed during your shift?



The answers are quite literally INSANE!

piiing - My sister is the director of a psychiatric hospital. There was recently a lady there who would cut her arms, legs, torso open and place photographs of her family under her skin.

jessica_bunny - One time there was a guy who was hallucinating, and they gave him meds to try to knock him out so he would just sleep - however that was not working. After they served dinner they went to collect the garbage, and noticed the spoon missing, a plastic spoon mind you. This man literally removed his eyeballs with the plastic dinner spoon in an attempt to stop hallucinating.



Drdoomz - I used to be a plumber, and almost weekly I would get called to the local psychiatric hospital for a backup in there sewer lines. About two years ago, I was called out to the same hospital ward. They were complaining about toilets and showers backing up the whole ward. We get there and the whole place stinks to high heaven. We crawl under the building and release the main line so that the ward at least isn't backing up. We then take our jetter and we try to busy through whatever was clogging the line up. What we pulled out, and I shit you not was a shredded fetus. It was the most fucked up thing I've ever seen in my life!

too_distracted - One of the residents who was confined to her bed had a worker go buy her a vibrator and lube. Actually, it was her family who requested it. Now, I know you're thinking 'that's not so bad!', what's bad is when she would finish her 'alone time', she would throw the slimy vibrator at the nurse and tell her to 'wash my dick, you n****r!' That nurse was a saint!



under_byte - Young girl came in; immediately fell in love with my co-worker... He was assigned to monitor her since she was a suicide risk. His shift was ending so I took over for him. Once the girl saw me, she yelled for my co-worker to come back. After realizing this was futile she chugged a small bottle of shampoo and started banging her head against a window. She was quite large (obese, 5'9"). My co-worker came back and we calmed her down as she began vomiting shampoo in her room. As I was taking her blood pressure she caught me off guard with an elbow to the stomach and ran for the door (I quit after this incident.)

LumpyNuggets - My dad worked in a maximum security prison and had the pleasure of subduing an oiled up inmate who removed his nipples with his fingernails and replaced them with mints... to freshen their breath when he talks to them.



RyanW1019 - One time they brought in this guy who was out of his mind on bath salts. He thought he was a glass of milk, and if anybody touched him, he'd tip over, the milk would spill out, and he'd die. So everybody was keeping their distance hoping he'd come out of it soon, when he spots one of the doors leading to the rest of the hospital and bolts for it. Running full tilt at the double doors, he puts both his arms out ahead of him to push them open.

Now, this mental ward is connected to a normal hospital, full of sick/injured/elderly people in no shape to go up against a bath-salts-crazed maniac. As a result, all doors leading to the rest of the hospital were made out of steel and electromagnetically sealed shut with several tons of force. This guy doesn't even slow down, plows into the doors and snaps both his arms at the elbows. He's so far gone he doesn't even notice. So now they have to deal with this lunatic running around waving two fractured arms flopping all over the place.
