  I haven't had a chance to watch Prometheus, though I really want to. Was a huge fan of Ridley Scott's original alien. What you're all saying about it makes me more intrigued, may be something for the weekend!

  I have seen Prometheus and want to give my views on it.
  
  If your a big fan of the Alien movies you are either going to love it or hate it. There is for the most part not a lot of alien references or anything which would spark the feeling you get whenever you see an alien movie.
  
  IT IS NOT SCARY/THRILLER/SUSPENSE. I want to make this clear, I went to see it hoping for the same kind of thrill I received from the first Alien, regardless of the two different story-lines this was a big disappointment to this side of the film and should not have been marketed as the great suspense filled movie it was advertised.
  
  It leaves you with a lot of unanswered questions, if your a fan of these type of films not your going to love it. However for serious fans this may disappoint in the whole story of it with the big questions hopefully might get answered in the rumored sequel.
  
  Overall the movie was great, had all round great acting from everyone in the movie, a decent plot with a pretty average ending. If your a fan of the aliens series and don't want to ruin the whole story of it maybe this is a miss for you.

  well i just finished watching it now and it was a pretty good movie overall, very different to the alien series in most ways.
  i shouldn't be, but i am kind of disappointed, not because it's a bad film, but i guess just because the whole franchise is so big and legendary now you just expect more, esp since it is ridley scott.
  
  anyway, i say it's worth watching and from the whole setup and the ending, it looks like they're leaving it open for a possible sequel. i hope scott directs any sequels too cuz i'm sure it would suck without him.
  
  unless cameron does it lol...

  Its just come out on bluray and dvdrip on the internet if you were so inclined not that id ever advocate piracy in any shape or form :D cant wait to watch it though been looking forward to it for ages.

  Exclusive steelbook edition now at play.com, I'm waiting for mine, can't wait to check out the alternate beginning / endings, it will be interesting to see if they alter the concept of the film in any way.

  Well, just watched it and to be honest - not blown away!
  
  It looks great and is well acted but it was a bit plodding to me.... and the ending! Sorry a bit of a "hang on, I've got a great idea" moment; felt tagged on as an after thought to fit into the Alien series
  
  (Obviously had to have an open ending to drive further films - don't want to start down the whole originality road - I mean, where would that end?!

  I saw it in the cinema Uubba and like you I wasn't blown away (pity, as I hoped it would have been so awesome), in fact I came out not really knowing what to think. I liked the film itself, I liked the concept, but trying to explain the whole creation thing, I didn't really get it, or at least how it then ended up with the Alien creatures anyway... They had to have some sort of resemblance to an the known Alien creature in the end but again it did seem rushed.
  So I am hoping by watching it again in the comfort of my sofa and probably a beverage (or three), I may glean that extra bit of knowledge from it, and with the alternate beginning / ending, that it may further enlighten me.

  I watched Prometheus just over a week ago. To be honest I was a little disappointed. The settings and the graphics were all very good but the story was somewhat lacking. Alien being so good, it needed a better prequel.

  Looks like most people were dissapointed in it here, me included, i thought the idea behind it was sound, ancient Aliens seeding the universe with their DNA and the title Prometheus, {Prometheus stole fire from the gods and created man from clay} but it had NONE of the tension of the previous Alien films, no sudden shocks, nothing hiding in the dark, and yes i know every film nowadays has to have an ending that leads into ANOTHER sequel but the way this ended was like they were setting the stage for a series, oh cmon mr robot lets go 'Treking' across the universe to find out why the big gun was pointed at earth. Having said that i wouldnt tell people not to watch it, its not totaly crap, it is worth a watch but just not what youd expect from Ridley, 6/10
