Saturday's fixtures...
Crystal Palace v Arsenal 12:45
Knowing that Arsenal were up next, you can see why Holloway walked when he did. The visitors’ league form is as impressive as the home side’s is poor, and it’s looking as though it’ll be a long afternoon for Palace caretaker Keith Millen. No new injury concerns for him though, and Yannick Bolasie should continue after making his comeback against Fulham. Mathieu Flamini is available again for the Gunners after sitting out the Dortmund defeat with concussion.
Aston Villa v Everton
The battle of the Belgians! He came off the bench against Spurs last week, and Christian Benteke is now fit to start. Big boost for the home side that, and Ciaran Clark’s back too! For Everton, Steven Pienaar is pushing for a start but John Heitinga’s doubtful. It’s all about Lukaku and Miralles on current form though.
Liverpool v West Brom
The Baggies won this fixture 2-0 last season so tomorrow’s game will be a handy barometer of how far Liverpool have come since then. The focus will understandably be on Suarez and Sturridge but Lucas Leiva returns after missing the Newcastle game. Jose Enrique is out though, and Phillippe Coutinho isn’t likely to return until next week. West Brom are still without Scott Sinclair and Ben Foster, while Zoltan Gera and George Thorne are doubts.
Man Utd v Stoke
They might have scraped a win in the midweek Champions League game, but United are without a win in two at Old Trafford. Three would be unheard of, do Stoke have what it takes? They don’t have any injury concerns to contend with and Ryan Shawcross and Geoff Cameron should both be available. David Moyes is able to call on Robin van Persie again after he missed the Sociedad game, and Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic are pushing for recalls too. Danny Welbeck and Tom Cleverley are unlikely to feature.
Norwich v Cardiff
A big game for both managers. The winner will feel the pressure ease while the loser will be sat in the bottom three and getting anxious. Neither of these sides have found goals particularly easy to come by this season, and the home side’s cause won’t be helped by Ricky van Wolfswinkel only being rated ‘touch and go’ for this one. Johan Elmander could be available after a thigh injury though. Cardiff are still without big-money summer signing Andreas Cornelius and Craig Noone is out too.
Southampton v Fulham 17:30
Martin Jol was looking like he might be on his way to the job centre a couple of weeks ago, but two wins later things are looking up. His Fulham side will have a fight on their hands to make it three in a row though, the Saints have started impressively this season and won plenty of plaudits with their high pressing game. Steven Davis is a doubt for the home side but they have an otherwise fully-fit squad. Bryan Ruiz and Brede Hangelaand are doubtful for Fulham.
