SATURDAY
Man Utd v Swansea 12:45
David Moyes looked a pretty a solid appointment when United beat Swansea 4-1 in his first league game a year ago. Chances are we'll see a similar scoreline here, but bear him in mind before getting too excited. The home side are 10/11 with a -1 handicap and that looks safe enough, but with Bony, Gomis and Sigurdsson likely to start for the Swans, and United's defence not looking anything as strong as it ought to (for now anyway), BTTS at EVS is probably the one. Can't say fairer than Bony at 7/2 any time, and - call it a hunch - how about Mata at 11/8?
Prediction: 3-1 (10/1)
Leicester v Everton
11/8 for the Everton win outright is good enough on its own but I can see them having some fun here. They're 7/2 with the -1 but even -2 doesn't seem overly ridiculous, and you can have 10/1 on that. Got to be Lukaku in the any times (7/4) and if you're feeling adventurous, 2 or more for the Belgian comes in at 15/2. Tempting.
Prediction: 0-3 (20/1)
QPR v Hull
Difficult to see Hull scoring too many in the absence of Shane Long, so it's just as well they're solid at the back. QPR don't let many in either. Can you see where this is going? 7/4 on under 1.5 match goals is definitely a goer, and were it not for Loic Remy a 0-0 final score at 13/2 wouldn't be ridiculous either. Expecting him to have a say though, so take a look at 5/1 on him getting the first/only goal.
Prediction: 1-0 (6/1)
Stoke v Aston Villa
A lot of people fancy Stoke to do well this year. I'm not entirely convinced but that's not to say they won't beat Villa. The outright win's 10/11, probably about right but not overly tempting, while the -1 handicap looks a bit of a stretch even at 5/2. Maybe under 1.5 goals at 7/4, but if your money's going anywhere on this one, how about Bojan 2/1 any time? Frickin Bojan, people! So what if he's actually a bit shite nowadays...
Prediction: 2-0 (7/1)
West Brom v Sunderland
One of those games where you can't really imagine anyone doing enough to win it. If you fancy Sunderland to carry on their good form from the end of last season then maybe them at 9/4, but it's got to be the draw for me, Clive.
Prediction: 1-1 (5/1)
West Ham v Tottenham
Don't like the look of this one at all. Opening day results can be erratic at the best of times and as downright average as West Ham are, they do love humiliating Spurs. 11/4 for the home win looks better value than the away at 21/20, but the draw's 5/2 so i'll most likely sit on the fence again. Adebayor's probably the safest shout in the any times (11/8), but how about a potentially revived-under-Pochettino Erik Lamela at 3/1? No-one'll see that coming.
Prediction: 1-1 (11/2)
Arsenal v Crystal Palace 17:30
Palace with Tony Pulis in the dug-out might have kept this respectable. Without him we could be looking at a massacre. Can't see any danger in backing Arsenal on the -2 handicap, it's just a shame it's not longer than 2/1. Maybe have a look at the -3 at 9/2 but some might call that greedy. In the any times, Ramsey (2/1) seems like far better value than Sanchez at 6/5, so go with him.
Prediction: 4-1 (18/1)
SUNDAY
Liverpool v Southampton 13:30
If you're looking for some scored-against-his-former-club action, pick Lovren! He chipped in with a fair few last season and looks great value at 17/2 any time. Lambert's 6/5 but steer clear, he probably won't start and isn't a bastard. Sturridge will though, he likes an early goal too so you can't argue with 10/3 on him getting the first. Southampton actually won this fixture 1-0 last year, but there's no getting away from the home win this time around. Might not be as emphatic as you think mind, so the Saints with a +2 at 4/5 could be a decent acca pick.
Prediction: 3-1 (10/1)
Newcastle v Man City 16:00
The Magpies have bought well this summer but Alan Pardew's still under pressure and the new signings will have to gel quickly. This certainly isn't the ideal opening fixture for him or them but with Aguero and Negredo both injured I can't see City running riot. They should just about beat the -1 handicap (worth a go at 8/5) but that's about it. Got to be Yaya Toure in the any times, 15/8!
Prediction: 0-2 (15/2)
MONDAY
Burnley v Chelsea 20:00
All them attacking midfielders, Diego Costa up front... 3.5+ match goals doesn't seem much of a stretch at all and 9/4 is some nice odds. 11/4 on Chelsea with a -2 handicap seems fairly generous too. Schurrle's 2/1 any time, which might be worth a go but just make sure he's playing before you go piling in. Got back late, didn't he? By the way, Costa. Way too short to be considering at the minute. Let's give it a few games to be sure what we're dealing with.
Prediction: 1-4 (20/1)
ACCA: Keeping it simple. £5 on wins for Man Utd, Stoke, Everton, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea returns £72.13.
