Parents are accidentally ordering gifts after talking about them in front of Alexa!

If you don’t want a tonne of items showing up on your doorstep, I suggest you avoid talking about your kids crimbo gift ideas in front of Alexa. Many parents were left confused after gifts started showing up at their front door that they didn’t order.

 

A cyber security expert has warned parents of how virtual assistant devices such as the Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant can make orders online without your knowledge or consent. Here’s what Matt Horan from C3IA Solutions has to say: 
 

With Christmas approaching I can foresee many people answering doors to delivery drivers with packages that the person knows nothing about – and which their ‘home helper’ has ordered for them. Last year these virtual assistants were enormously popular Christmas presents and this year they might be ordering the families’ presents for them. The most sensible approach is to disable the voice purchasing element of the device, or at least set up a pass code. And of course they can be turned off when you are having detailed discussions about potential items you might want.

 
See, this is why I don’t trust Alexa. Why the fuck would anyone want some sneaky little device listening in to all of your private conversations. Nope!
