Only Fools and Horses is making a comeback - as a West End musical
It looks like the British comedy Only Fools and Horses is making a comeback in the form of a West End musical and I don’t quite know how to feel about it.

There isn’t a Brit out there who doesn’t love Only Fools and Horses, and if you don’t love it - can you even call yourself a true Brit? The Musical will open at London’s Theatre Royal Haymarket on February 9th and will feature over 20 new songs. Apparently the musical was the final project Only Fools writer and creator John Sullivan was working on before he died in 2011. It’s now up to John’s son Jim to step in and fulfil his dads dreams, and he has teamed up with writer and comedian Paul Whitehouse to write and create the musical. Rumour has it that it will also feature music from the late Chas Hodges from Chas’n’Dave.

It has been five years in the making and is described as “a unique showstopper, unlike anything else in the West End”. Hmm, we shall see!

I'm always weary of this sort of thing. It also comes across as lazy and safe by West End to go with something safe that they know will sell quite well. I'm glad that this was something John Sullivan was thinking about doing before he died rather than people just deciding to cash in without his blessing.

In Paul Whitehouse we trust.

He's got a pretty decent track record and I am sure he'd not let his vision cloud the original concept.
