  I was watching the US version Battle Bots yesterday, where it is a straight knock-out competition.
  Only 4 fights in a one hour show, but I thought it was a more satisfying format.
  The winning bot can go away and get proper repair and development done to it before its next bout. In Robot Wars, with all the round-robin fights, they have to bodge a repair in an hour or two after getting ripped to shreds, it's very frustrating when you see one with a great weapon idea but some stupid handling problem that counts it out, when if they had proper fixing time they would do themselves justice.
  The spinning arms are brutal but the flaw is they need time and space to get up to speed, perhaps if the blade could withdraw into the body of the robot to gain rpm's then it would stop the opponent from being a nuisance by staying in close all the time to neutralize it.

  I watched the first episode of Battlebots, and the thing i noticed most was that out of 45/50 min episode duration there was a total of about 10 minutes of Robot fights and 35 minutes of the people blathering on. One of them genuinely started talking about the fact that they were raised by a single mother (who honestly cares?). The fights weren't bad when they actually took place, but the team behind Razer's new robot was a bit crap.

  ah crap I forgot all about this show, I really wanted to watch it. I'll get it on catch up anyway but i'm not liking the sound of only a mere 10 minutes of action and 3 times the amount of talking but i'll see what I make of it. I imagine the Americans to have better robots I must say

  It's fine as long you keep in mind that you will be forwarding through a lot of rambling. The first fight in particular has a pretty devastating weapon on one of the robots. Bizarrely there are about 6 presenters, I'm not kidding, almost like they couldn't decide who to pick and hired everyone who wanted the job lol.

  I was pleased to see they didn't have any "house robots", I hate them on robot wars, it should only be about the competitors' machines duking it out without some massive one ton bully bot sticking its rotating metal oar in.
  Would so love to see someone just charging in and destroying sir killalot, can you imagine the look on the poor producer's face :D

  A new series of Robot wars is starting on BBC2 next Sunday(October 22nd), hoping for a longer run this series, there were some great new robots in the last series, would be great to see some of them return, even better to see some more older robots return, the likes of Hypnodisc, Chaos 2, can remember Behemoth being in the last series, but not sure if any other older robots were
  
  Am guessing Dara O'Briain will be the presenter again, unfortunately, bring back Craig Charles, he showed so much enthusiasm, Dara sounds like he just can't be arsed

  I agree, I like Dara but I always kind of got the feeling he thought Robot Wars was maybe a bit beneath him. Craig Charles splits audiences though I think, some people like him and some people really don't. Personally I have liked him because I was a massive Red Dwarf fan when from years back.

  New series, new format, & new rules it would seem, as there was a cluster bot, that had 4 bots, previously is one bot was disabled, that entire bot was declared immobile, doesn't seem to be the case, as one cluster bot was flipped out of the arena, but the other 3 were still able to compete

  One of the newest arena hazards, is the 'fog of war', the entire arena is covered in what looks like blasts from fire extinguisher's, which covers the arena, for about a minute, not sure if it's a good, or bad change

  Not a fan of the presenting team, was better when it was Craig Charles, & Phillipa Forrester, as Craig did the presenting, & Phillipa did the interviews in the pits, whereas Dara O'Briain, & Angela Scanlon seem to do both
